Marketing Tutoring

When most people think of marketing, they probably think of the Don Draper style of marketing, which is advertising. Commercials, billboards, print ads, bus ads, web ads, and all sorts of other ads dominate your consciousness as you try to get through the day. While advertising is a major subset of marketing, it is not the only piece of the puzzle. In fact, there are many aspects of marketing that are not directly involved with making ads.

Marketing is often about finding a message, which is why it is such a creative field. In most business curriculums, you will go through different requirements like accounting, finance, organizational behavior, and other topics that can feel boring and stale. They can be very math heavy and strict on complicated formulas, which gets really repetitive. It also makes you feel like you are stripping away your individuality, as you are just getting the same answers as anyone else could. If you want a more creative path in business, search for marketing tutors near me.

The fun part of marketing is that you are able to show some of your creativity and a lot of your people skills. Marketers make lots of presentations, as they often have to pitch ideas to clients. You are likely going to practice public speaking in any business education setting, but you might also get extra practice outside with a public speaking tutor. This way, you can get rid of the stutters, stammers, and other nervous tics that are the result of feeling unprepared. All of our tutors, public speaking and otherwise, are good at helping you build confidence.

The other aspect that makes marketing special is that it deals with people. All of the data-driven parts of business boil people down into numbers and averages that can never account for the human element. Sometimes, the biggest difference is knowing how people tick, which is what marketers are there for. To become the next great communicator, try private marketing tutoring.

The biggest pitfall that most non-marketers experience is that they forget the customer. In the end, there is no product if it is not able to reach a consumer. On the show Silicon Valley, they demonstrated this concept in a very interesting way during the third season. The season began with a new CEO taking over. Where Richard, the former CEO and creator of the technology, was entirely focused on the tech, Jack Barker was focused on satisfying the board of investors. He wanted returns in the short term, while Richard was focusing on the long term play of the technology. Richard makes a joke about a dumb use for the technology and Jack sees it as a way to reach consumers quickly, so he shifts the focus of the company to the product instead of building a platform. In real life, this could be reflected by Tesla building cars. Elon Musk is probably developing his batteries for loftier goals of reducing fossil fuels overall, but a car is an easy way for consumers to see that technology in action and invest their own money to consume it.

Later in the season, Richard is allowed to launch his platform and it is a huge success at first, but daily active users drop after the launch. Where he had focused on making superior technology, consumers were confused by the complicated user interface, leaving the door open for competitors. By season’s end, Richard leaves the company as Dinesh, his programmer, repurposes the tech for a video chat app that becomes immediately popular. Sometimes, marketing is about finding the right delivery method to bring new tech to consumers.

If your focus is on the practical application of new technology, marketing might be right for you.

The other aspect that makes marketing special is that it deals with people. All of the data-driven parts of business boil people down into numbers and averages that can never account for the human element. The marketers of the future need great tutors if they are going to surpass previous generations. At the basic level, we want people that are great at communicating. The goal of a great marketing campaign is to communicate the product benefits in a way that meets the needs of consumers. Finding great marketing tutoring near me is simple with us. We help match you with people that see beyond the simple attributes of a product. For example, good grades are a perfectly good reason to get tutoring, but is much more enticing when you frame it as a way to build motivation and become a confident, talented professional who is ready to tackle the world.

Sometimes, great marketing is about a feeling. When you think of Dos Equis, you think class and manliness thanks to the Most Interesting Man in the World. He was just an older, Hispanic gentleman, but his deep voice, women at his side, cigars, and fine suits gave the beer a sense of elegance that differentiates it among other beer brands. To learn about how to communicate a feeling, seek the help of our private marketing tutors.

We are entering a time where marketing is becoming more and more personal. With social media, brands have gone from faceless companies to individuals. With a consistent message, Instagram users find massive followings. You might find the inspirational quotes and mindfulness practices to be superficial nonsense, but many people reach influencer status just by staying consistent. With the nature of social media, everyone has an audience.

Part of what makes a great tutor is someone that understands that they are a small business owner. Many tutors think of the job as a side hustle and it will always stay that way if that is the way you think of it. If you want to move past it being a side hustle, marketers should be the best at expanding their tutoring business. They should be the ones that know how to get their name out there and communicate their expertise to students. That is not to say we will only work with a marketing tutor if they build their own following, but it is a great way to show that you know what you are talking about, not just talking the talk.
