Hindi Tutoring

There are only two countries on the planet with more than one billion people, India and China. Hindi is one of the languages that is most associated with India, although English is still pretty standard. In fact, despite the fact that there are 1.3 billion people in India, there are only an estimated 322 million speakers of Hindi. In America, people always like to point out the fact that there is no official language for the country. Although English is the standard, there is no official language. It is quite the same in India, where Hindi is definitely heavily prevalent, but there are still plenty of people that speak English. That said, learning Hindi in America is growing increasingly popular and one of the best ways to get help is by hiring private Hindi tutors. Hindi is the third most spoken language in the world outside of English and Mandarin, so it can be a very useful language to learn, especially if you are going to do a lot of business in India.

In India, Hindi is typically the language that is spoken through the northern parts of the country. There are other dialects spoken throughout the country, but they are not as common than the standard Hindi that is spoken throughout the area that is referred to as the Hindi belt. Outside of India, there are also a few other countries that have adopted their own Hindustani languages, such as Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname. It is important when looking into Hindi tutors near me that you know which kind of Hindi you are looking to learn and which the tutor is fluent in because there are material differences that could leave you confused if you get the wrong one. Overall, Hindi is fairly similar to Urdu in the spoken form, although the vocabularies are different. That said, you can’t just hire an Urdu tutor if you want to learn Hindi. I will not get too deep into the details because it gets very messy, but it is basically separated that Urdu is the language of Pakistan and Hindi is the language of India. Urdu uses Perso-Arabic characters, while India uses Sanskrit and Devanagari script. It seems like an odd distinction, but the two countries have enough history together that it might be for the best that they each have their own way of writing.

As mentioned earlier, business with India might be one of the best reasons to learn the language of Hindi if you are not someone that comes from Indian descent. That is not to say that there are not other reasons that you might want to learn the language, but Hindi in business can be a key differentiator that separates you from your peers and makes you the expert in a lucrative field. As more and more of India becomes industrialized and the economy grows, someone that can play in both worlds holds a special power that nobody else can match. It is one thing to double down on your heritage when you are Indian American, but it can be even more interesting and impressive if you come from a European background and choose to learn Hindi. With the history of colonization, that level of assimilation seems like a nice gesture actually.

No matter your reason for learning the language, learning Hindi with a tutor is a great way to learn the language. There are certain personal touches that you can get with the right attention and with the right tutor that give you an immersive experience beyond just learning the language. But we will get to that in the next section.

In America, finding the right person to teach you Hindi takes a lot of process, so we want to make sure that you are rewarded at the end of all of that hard work with the best private Hindi tutoring that we can offer. In looking for Hindi tutors, it takes more than just knowing the language to know how to teach, which is why we need someone with experience. There is something to learning language that just requires an experienced guide to get there. It might be because learning an entirely new language is so difficult, but whatever it is, you should be sure that the person teaching has done it before because a bad tutor can make an already arduous process even longer.

Some of the things that make Hindi tutors so great are actually things that come outside of the language skills portions of the lessons. That seems like it would be pretty much the entire lesson, so you might be wondering why I would say the great stuff is not there. The really great tutors are not just teaching language, but also get into culture. One of the things that made my language education so fun and engaging in high school was the fact that my teacher would find ways to teach us things that were not just saying words. In some lessons, we learned about traditions and manners that many people follow that are different than American culture. In other classes, she brought in traditional food for us to get a chance to taste the contributions of that part of the world. This is not all required of a great tutor, but you should think about teaching about more than just Hindi.

There are a lot of Indian holidays that Americans grow up knowing nothing about. One of my best friends in high school was Indian, but I never learned about Holi until college and I learned about Diwali from The Office. It was not his job to be my cultural guide to India, but it is the job of Hindi tutoring near me to get into more than just the language. Part of being a Hindi tutor is being an ambassador for India to the people that you are teaching. It is a responsibility that you should take pride in, as you can promote the culture of your people and make it more recognized and respected.
